Semi Finals Wrap-up 2009-11-09 00:40, flag coach
The semi finals were a hard fought group of matches with close finishes the order of the day. Three teams were eliminated tonight, three have progressed straight to the Grand Finals of their respective divisions & six teams will now do battle next week in a cutthroat set of matches. The winner progressing to the GF while the losers season is over.

Division 1.

In the first match tonight SAW 1 had a comfortable win over SAW2 & eliminated them from the finals race. The second match saw MM finish on top of a fast finishing Resurgence side that fell just short. MM are now rewarded with the week off next week & progress staright to thye Grand Final match the following week. SAW1 & resurgence now do battle next week on Santos for the right to face MM in the Grand Final.

Division 2.

The first match tonight saw Sys.AWOL overrun a persistent uNK side & progress straight to the Grand Final match in two weeks. uNK are now faced with an elimination match next week on Santos against Spartans Curved who were too good for MM2 tonight.

Division 3.

The first match tonight saw RAB book themselves the first position in the Grand Final in their first SAIL season after a solid win over SAW4. SAW4 will now face WaD[ToF] after their defeat of the other WaD side, [MF].

Season IV Finals 2009-11-03 14:38, flag coach
Well at the completion of the important division rounds we are left with 12 teams battling for supremacy in their respective divisions. We have some usual stalwarts represented in the finals but also some new faces looking to stamp their clans name into SAIL history. With Team Captains currently voting on map selection for the finals it is a anxious waiting period to see what maps these teams will do battle on.

Map selection is complete. Map to be used in the first week of finals is Solitude.

Santos for the second week & Catania is the decider for the GF.

Division 1.

The Division 1 finals look a lot like previous seasons. Resurgence has finished the season on top undefeated & must go into the finals as red hot favourites. MM have improved as the season has progressed & have managed to elevate themselves to finish second on the ladder. SAW1 dropped a spot this season finishing third but are always a threat when on their game. SAW2 are the final team in the finals, backing up from their Division 2 win last season to make it to the finals again. Making the finals of Division 1 is a credit to them but will find it a lot harder from here on in.

Division 2.

The Division 2 finals are full of teams that have gone thru changes over the off season or are second teams of Division 1 teams. System.AWOL dropped from Division 1 back to Division 2 & have left no doubt that they are a force to reckon with finishing on top of the ladder. uNK, mainly ex Sys.AWOL second team members have done well in their first season & managed to finish the season in second position. I see them as Sys's main threat in these finals. Spartans curved & MM are both second teams & have also done well managing to make the finals in third & fourth position respectively. Their match this week will be a great one with the loser being eliminated.

Division 3.

The Division 3 finals will be hotly contested with the new RAB team the team to beat on current form. They have achieved a lot in their first season & managed to finish atop the ladder at season end. A great reward for their first season. SAW4 though are not to be taken lightly & are the only team to beat RAB this season, albeit in the first round. A lot has changed since then though with RAB improving immensely. I expect a tough series from these two. The two WaD teams manged to take out the reamining third & fourth positions & will do battle in the first final. Only one will progress from here.

Well done to all teams that participated in SAIL Season IV.

Season I, Rifle Comp Winners 2009-09-23 22:43, flag coach
Congratulations to SAW1 on winning the inaugural Rifle Comp for Season I. Here is Fodder's write up of the match:

Game 1.

The game started with SAW1 capping out in under a minute, leaving MM a little bewildered. Two quick caps followed that one. The fourth cap was stolen from the MM player standing mere inches from the cap zone. The culmination of these four caps seemed to piss MM off somewhat, and when SAW1 pushed them back to their first flag they held it, and retaliated. SAW1 were too strong and soon had them on their back foot on their first, with the pressure of Tank nailing them, another capout was inevitable. Then SAW1 capped out a few more times....

SAW1 took the lead in the second half with the first capout. The next time MM were pushed back to their spawn ended in some sort of bizarre love triangle on the first flag between Blade, Butteredballs and Chopper. This ended with Blade TK'ing Butteredballs in a fit of jealous rage, and Chopper capping out. Eventually MM pushed SAW1 back to their first flag, but just couldn't seal the deal. SAW1 greedily grabbed some more caps too.

Game 2
Apperently nobody told Tank about the high fire danger this summer, because that man was on FIRE. After at least 2 capouts, Tank was 12 for zip, with Encounter from MM ending his run. The sad passing of Tank seemed to open some doors for MM, who were back on the front foot again, but they just couldn't quite get there. MM showed some good defence, but it just couldn't hold out forever against a relentless SAW1 attack. SAW1 got some more caps.....

MM kicked off the 2nd half with a very uncharacteristic CAPOUT! Unfortunately SAW1 had a more than equal reply to that, and capped out too. Seven more times in fact. Hats off to MM though, at no stage of tonight did they ever give up, always pushing and defending hard.

In the end of both games, not quite the scoreline we had all hoped for. Each player should be proud though, over the course of both matches I saw a multitude of absolute ball-tearing kills.

GG

Players of note:
Silence, Butteredballs, Encounter

Player of the Match:
You guessed it, Tank.

Season III, Division 2 Winners 2009-08-17 22:20, flag coach
Congratulations to SAW2 who managed to win the Division 2 Grand Final series over Spartans in an epic three match battle. The teams were that evenly matched over the first two maps that only 18 tickpoints separated the teams after two fantastic matches.

In the first match, Harrington, Spartans looked to be home when SAW2 made a final lunge for victory. But with 1:08 left on the clock the server crashed forcing an adjudication to be made on the outcome. After checking the server logs & the game demos the match was awarded to Spartans by 14tickpoints.

In the second match, Lennon, SAW needed to win to stay alive in the finals. They took control of the match but with limited time remaining dropped their guard & allowed Spartans back into the game. Spartans picked up the pace as the could sense a victory & a possible GF series victory. This was to be denied with SAW2 holding on by the slimmest of margins, 4 tickpoints.

In the third & deciding match, Catania, it was a do or die effort by both teams. The winner season winners. The losers having to wait till next season to start again. SAW were in control for much of this match & it did not resemble the previous close encounters. SAW comfortable winners & eventual Season III winners.

Congrats to both teams on a great season & final series.

Season III, Division 1 Winners 2009-08-17 01:18, flag coach
Congratulations to Resurgence who were able to three-peat in the SAIL Competition. Always a strong & hard to beat side, tonight they showed their strengths & adaptability when under pressure. On the first map tonight, dod_harbor, SAW thought they could take this map & possibly send the contest to a third match as Resurgence are so strong on their choice Lennon. This was not to be though.

I do believe that this map proved itself as a scrim map tonight by providing a tight & interesting battle between two teams that could have gone either way. Harbor was proving to be a tussle between two clans desperate for the win. Flags continually switching from side to side as both tried to gain the upper hand. Tickpoints the only thing separating the teams at the half.

The second half was looking exactly the same as the first with both teams struggling to gain an advantage. SAW managed to be in control for a great period of time at the start of this half without being able to capitalise. Then it happened, BRAIN FADE!!! SAW were caught out & gave Resurgence a capout. This was to be the winner for the match.

After conceding defeat on Harbor the two clans switched to Lennon. Resurgence would have been confident going into this round & with good reason as they are extremely strong on this map. In the first half Resurgence exerted their dominance on SAW who hardly showed a whimper & were totally out of the match. SAW ending the half 7 caps in arrears.

The second half was a slightly better showing from SAW but Resurgence still managed to win the half narrowly. The biggest difference with these teams is the ease at which Resurgence is able to make the kills that count as well as the teamwork they show to get their desired result, A WIN!!!!!

Once again congratulations Resurgence on another great season.

We can start all over again next season.
